SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS 2024

BCMEA is proud to announce the 2024 Scholarship Awardees! Every single one of our scholarship candidates displayed exceptional qualities. We take immense pride in honoring those individuals who exhibited outstanding academic and extracurricular accomplishments. Moreover, each candidate showcased unwavering personal integrity and deeply-held values. Let's introduce you to our exceptional candidates, all of whom exemplified passion, curiosity, and a strong dedication to making a positive difference in our community.  â€‹

Crystal Kehle

Crystal is attending CSU Chico pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies to become an Elementary Teacher, Multi-Subject. She graduated with her AA in Liberal Studies in Spring of 2023. and is on track to graduate from CSU Chico in Spring of 2025. Currently, Crystal has been employed at the Butte County Department of Employment and Social Services since 2012, serving as a Supervisor for Employment and Eligibility.

In her spare time, she is actively involved in volunteering at local High Schools and is dedicated to contributing to the betterment of our community.

Wyatt Stanhope

Wyatt Stanhope plans to achieve his AA degree from Butte Community College and transfer to a university to pursue his Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Power Production. He is dedicated to achieving his dreams and grateful for any support received.

​

When he was enrolled at Oroville High School, Wyatt was a student-athlete and team captain in Cross County and Track. Moreover, he maintained a 4.0 GPA all while managing his complex school and sports schedule he also worked part time. Wyatt's participation in high school sports and work, helped him develop leadership and time management skills.

 

Wyatt is the grandson of Dee Dee Stanhope

Cory Kirk

Cory Kirk

Cory Kirk has completed his first year at UC Davis, where he is majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He has met many brilliant minds and is eager to change the world.  His journey began before graduating high school where Cory was initially drawn to automotive studies due to his fascination with moving parts. However, he quickly realized it wasn't his passion as it lacked a sense of initiative and servitude to others. His love for science naturally led him to chemistry, biology, and physics and making a difference in healthcare.

Lawjay Lee

Lawjay Lee is currently attending Butte Community College and pursuing a career in software engineering. In high school, he was active in the Interact Club, where he planned and hosted charity events. Lawjay was also a natural teacher, providing private tutoring. These experiences have prepared him to effectively contribute to team-based, project-oriented environments in software engineering.

​

Of most importance in Lawjay's life is his heritage. Given his Hmong cultural background, community takes significant priority. He has participated in many cultural events that required careful planning and respectful participation.

Lawjay is the son of Chia Thao-Lee and Bee Lee
